Pillow Thoughts by Courtney Peppernell
I really like this book, because the poems in it are really romantic and sexy. Whoever thought of dividing the poems up by a “Table of thoughts” with entries such as “If you are in love with someone” or “If you are lonely,” was a brilliant thinker.
The Iceman Cometh Eugene O’Neill
At times laugh out loud funny, Iceman Cometh is really something specially entertaining, to me, reader of novels. This is a play. What Eugene has been able to do with characterization is amazing. I feel like college boy from the story. It is a sad story, but one loaded with rich characters. Iceman is funny, because it is written in phonetic accents. It is a book from a different era, so it has un-PC language in it.
how to Teach English by Jeremy Harmer
Helpful and authoritative text designed for in-class English teachers. Some of its information does not translate to online teaching. Helpful ideas include: being a teacher who shares information about themselves with their students in order to better establish trust.
The Shawl by Cynthia Ozick
Truthful and realistic story about life for in Florida. Very good work of Jewish Literature. Unforgettably sane writing about seeing ghosts in the years following the holocaust.
The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Pop fiction. This is one of many Cormac McCarthy novels. He graduated from University of Tennessee, quit drinking, and moved to Arizona. It’s funny that he quit, the whiskey that father drinks is alcohol in the novel. I loved the imagery of an American wasteland, the stores all shuttered, and the father and son trudging on on their journey. It is a lot like The Last of Us, that is on HBOMax.
